Why Me?
Proven, Dedicated Leader
Last year, my coworkers at Jefferson Elementary School voted me the school's first Staff Jaguar of the Year. This award spoke to my colleagues' perception of my leadership skills, team spirit, and overall effectiveness as an educator.
Interpersonal Skills
I am an effective communicator who is adept at building relationships with coworkers and students. Teachers often seek me out for advice and to discuss students, classroom growth, and instructional practices. I am a good listener. People find it easy to talk to me.
Knowledgeable
I have a wide variety of experiences to draw upon. I have been a 1st, 3rd, and 4th grade classroom teacher. I have taught gifted and talented students, ELL students, and special education students. As an interventionist, I work with students across all elementary grade levels. I bring an understanding of RTI and special education.
Data analysis has been a driving force of my instruction. I am able to analyze various data, including Star and MAP reports, to determine the needs of students.
I have attended many trainings that have shaped my instructional practices, including FPC Literacy Continuum training, Literacy Processing Systems with Reading Recovery strategies, Leveled Literacy Intervention training, and Kagan Structures.
My experience and training collectively give me a good foundation to partner with other teachers.
Work Ethic
I've had a strong work ethic since my earliest days, when I was helping my parents clean a family-owned business on Sundays. I take great personal pride in my work, whether I'm creating an intervention schedule or pressing forward to help a student reach grade level.
Love of Learning
I am animated by an educator's mandate to constantly learn and grow. I'm genuinely excited about learning new things and sharing what I know with others.
Reflective
I believe that great teachers take time to reflect on their teaching practices, students, and classrooms. I am a reflective educator. I take time to think about and analyze what I am doing and why I am doing it to determine how I can improve. As an instructional coach, I would encourage fellow educators to do the same.
